It is on the occasion of the IFA that takes place at this very moment in Berlin that Sony decided to unveil the latest of its cameras. Named RX0, it is added to the range RX, which is the high-end manufacturer. Extremely compact, it nevertheless offers nec plus ultra performance, and benefits from an extremely robust construction.
According to the manufacturer, this RX0 is a camera that will allow photographers of all hairs to express their creativity in the best way, whether in photo or video. This device makes it possible to realize very simply many effects like slow motion (up to x40), bullet time or time slice . Better, it is possible to connect several RX0s together (5 with the application PlayMemories and up to 15 with the remote control FA-WRC1M) to make movies in multiple shooting very simply. A control box and a wireless connection solution should also be launched in January 2018.
With only 110 grams for dimensions up to 59 x 40.5 x 29.8 mm, the RX0 is an extremely compact camera that also has a robust chassis designed to work in extreme conditions. Waterproof up to 10 meters (100 MPK-HSR1), it also resists falls up to 2 meters, and crushing (2000 newtons). It also benefits from an advanced tropicalization to resist filming outdoors.
A real beast of competition
On the hardware side, the RX0 boasts an Exmor RS 1.0 type CMOS image sensor that reaches 15.3 million pixels, a BIONZ X processor and a ZEISS Tessar T 24 mm F4 wide angle lens. The shutter for its part will display a shutter speed of up to 1/32000 second and capture up to 16 frames per second. It also has a 4K HDMI port that will allow for example to record videos in native 4K on an external recorder.
To go with this new device, Sony announced a wide range of accessories. In addition to the housing allowing the unit to operate under water up to 100 m, it will be possible to find a chassis that increases the flexibility of the RX0, a filter adapter or even rechargeable batteries. The RX0 is scheduled for next October and will be marketed around 850 euros.
