# IFA2017: Getting started with the Sony Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact

Sony announced this morning its new smartphones Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact, which succeed the XZ and X Compact (the latter was starting to date)! The big update on these two smartphones concerns the more "slim" and all metal design for XZ1, a new processor, the Snapdragon 835 and also Android 8.0 Oreo as of their release in October.

The photo at the rendezvous and a new 3D technology in bonus

The 19MPx Motion Eye sensor found on the XZ Premium (1 / 2.3 "Exmor RS sensor, G Lens 25mm f / 2.0 optics, Laser autofocus, Predictive Capture, super slow motion 720p @ 960fps , 4K video and SteadyShot electronic stabilizer) is now on both models, while in front we have a 13Mpx sensor (22mm f / 2.0 optics) for the XZ1 and 8MPx wide-angle for the XZ1 Compact.

But that's not all, since Sony has added a rather unprecedented 3D capture capability. It is thus possible to scan a face or even an object in 3D in order to integrate it in various animated models to share this on the social networks, but also to print them via a 3D printer!

Without really being able to test this part, what we had already seen on the XZ Premium, as well as the numerous examples that Sony showed us, suggests that these two smartphones will not be left behind!

Evolving features, but a design that stagnates

These XZ1 and XZ1 Compact are both powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM. The XZ1 has a 5.2-inch screen with a 1080p HDR resolution, while the Compact is satisfied with a 4.6-inch 720p screen. Both are Gorilla Glass 5 and IP68 certified. On the storage side, it will be 64GB for the XZ1 and 32GB for the Compact, but each time with a microSD port to extend it.

As one would expect, Sony has not made a huge change in its design. While the XZ1 is entirely made of aluminum, or both offer an edge-to-edge screen, the two black bands at the top and bottom of the screen, but also the extra design Strict, square of these smartphones. The thickness has nevertheless been diminished and the taking of these last is finally pleasant, and even surprising with the Compact when one has too much the habit of having a "small" screen. Remember that this one is the only smartphone "high-end" with a screen of this size.

Finally, we find on these smartphones the 4G category 16, the WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.0, a USB port Type C and a battery of 2700 mAh Stamina.

The Xperia XZ1 arrives on 6 October at a price of 699 € in black, champagne, gray or pink blue, while the XZ1 Compact will be offered at 599 € in black, white, blue, coral, October. These two smartphones are well integrated in the range of Sony for performances that seem to go with appointment. The XZ1 Compact could have met with some success because it is a neglected format and yet demanded by consumers.
